HIGHLIGHTED

In 1986, based on the design by Nicolino Brunella (engineer) and implementation by Permasteelisa Spa, we produced the first façade of our region with cellular structure glass for the Lotto Spa headquarters in Montebelluna: this opened new design frontiers that materialised over the years and imposed themselves in the world as the fundamental condition of ductility and elegance. Today, in 2012, history is repeating with the innovative application method for polycarbonate sheets for the Protoshop Lamborghini, bound to change the concept of material performances both from a technical, energy and design point of view.

Lamborghini Protoshop ā€“ approximately 800 square metres of facade combining design, functionality and energy savings

Lazzaro launches an important design challenge with the production of the faƧade of the new Lamborghini building to be used for the development of new prototypes and pre-series. Thanks to this new application of polycarbonate sheets, design together with functionality and energy savings become key strengths giving birth to the first multi-storey industrial building in Italy to earn Class A energy certification.

The new Lamborghini Protoshop building is a reinforced concrete structure of 5,000 square meters built at the headquarters of the vehicle manufacturer in Sant’Agata Bolognese and bound to be used for the development of prototypes and pre-series.

The 800 square metres of faƧade were produced by Lazzaro to achieve the precise targets drawn by Luca Bernardoni, engineer at Prospazio, and by the head office: an optimal level of internal lighting for operators with limited visibility from the outside, thermal insulation, acoustic comfort and exclusive design.

To achieve the target, Lazzaro designed special walls made of triple-layer polycarbonate with double chamber (Dott. Gallina s.r.l. technology) with filters to cut down on refracted sunlight on the most exposed faƧades. The cladding was applied on the basis of innovative criteria and the results reached a qualitative level that led the building to earn the first Class A energy certification in Italy for an industrial multi-storey building.

Moreover, the aesthetical performance, very similar to that of glass, offered a solution of refined and original design making Protoshop a real icon of innovation and technology, the most significant elements of the famous vehicle manufacturer of Bologna.

Catania Shopping Centre (Sicily): EPSE Award.

EPSE (European Polycarbonate Sheet Extruders) is an association working to develop and promote quality of polycarbonate sheets and of extrusion processes in the European market. EPSE was founded in 2003 and counts among its members leading manufacturers such as Arla Plast AB (Sweden) and Brett Martin (England).

In 2011, the EPSE award dedicated to applications in polycarbonate standing out for technology, functionality and design, was assigned to the Catania Shopping Centre, Sicily’s biggest shopping centre built in Catania.
The reasons behind the award were: the use of a new infra-red treatment on polycarbonate sheets with different thicknesses, geometries and colours. The sheets, produced with this new IR technology, allowed a drastic reduction of the “greenhouse” effect inside the shopping centre and the use of air conditioning (calculated to be around 30%). Further energy savings were then obtained in natural lighting enhanced by the large covering surface.
